A bit about HockeyFriend.ca…
One of the first things someone will warn tell you about entering the world of minor hockey is, “There are no friends in hockey.” And in spite of our best efforts to be a supportive and inclusive hockey family, that turned out to be true. Navigating the world of competitive minor hockey can be frustrating and challenging if you have no hockey experience. (We already know it’s expensive.) And even if you do know a lot about hockey, entering the world of minor hockey as a parent is a whole new ballgame.
Why HockeyFriend.ca?
We know that new hockey parents have lots of questions. HockeyFriend.ca will help to answer them! What are the different levels in hockey? What are the different age groups? Where can I find extra skating and hockey skills lessons? What hockey schools and hockey camps are the most reputable? What does development mean? Is my kid on the ice too much? Is my kid not on the ice enough? Does my kid have realistic expectations for a future in hockey? What other sports complement hockey?
HockeyFriend.ca is a work in progress. It will take some time to gather all of the information for all the regions across Canada. We’re starting with the biggest, Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. And we’ll work our way out from there.
